Barely Adequate Sep 13, 2009
By Consumer Paul Bought this last week and gave it the full 36 hour charge. Tested it this weekend on my dad's 1988 Ford Escort. (4 Cylinder engine). To test it, I disconnected the negative cable from the Escort battery. The IP-75 started it, but barely. When I brought my dad out to see a second demonstration, it failed. Conditions were ideal; 70 degrees in the shade on the driveway. It's probably fine for motorcycles, lawn mowers or ATV's, but it's not really enough for much more. It's only 7 Amp hours. I think 12 Amp hours is the minimum for confidence.

Never worked the first time Mar 27, 2011
By Anthony B. Jeffries Bought this last year to use at a second home for a car that is parked most of the time. Just had occasion to use it. Charged it all night, but the charge light never came on. Yes, it was plugged in! But, in the morning, it still says it needs to be recharged. When plugged in, it still does not show any indication that it is charging. Connected to the car battery and there is no effect. I am going to have to start over and just treat this as wasted money. I would say it was defective from the beginning and I just had not tried it to know that. Do not rely on this product. Buy something else, plug it in and try it, before storing it for emergency use. See the other comment here for the power demand necessary to start a car - sounds like he knows more than I do about that aspect of it.

failed after first use Aug 26, 2011

like many, I used my to start an engine (40hp diesel). It worked for that, but afterward I've recharged it fully and no power. It states that it is fully charged, but no 12v power. There's no fuse, or breaker, nothing to do but throw it away.
Charger worked good. Feb 08, 2012
By califlady98 I bought this charger about 5 years ago and it was great for jump starting my car. I forgot to recharged the charger but after 3 years I was able to still use it.
Not a Fan May 24, 2011
By Ed Feather I didn't realize it didn't come with a power cord - it needs a separate extention cord to charge the unit. And its not very power full. I had a dead battery and it sucked half the energy out of the unit on the first attempt to jump. Never had enough juice to start the car, A jumo from regular cables worked on the first try (after sitting 2 more days).
Spend the extra money and get a more powerful unit!
