 Machine is great - Drum unit is a nightmare Mar 21, 2011

I've had this printer for a number of years and really like it, but the drum unit is expensive and very delicate. After just a month I have to replace it again and I have no idea why. There's every possibility it arrived damaged. If this replacement doesn't work, I'll scrap the printer entirely because it's less expensive to buy a new printer than to pay another $90 + shipping for the drum.
My advice - check the cost of replacement toner and drums before you invest in a machine. Of course the printers are cheap, the manufacturers make their money off the cartridges and drum units.

This drum unit worked great. It was very easy to change out my old one for this one and I had no problems once it was in. I'm the least technologically advanced person when it comes to computers, printers, fax machines, etc. and it was very easy to take out my old drum and put this one in.

Just wish they lasted longer. But it was much cheaper here than at office supply stores, like Staples and Office Depot, which rarely even had them in stock.

I paid $100 for the multi-function machine and have to pay almost $90 for the drum unit that only lasted less than 6,000 copies. The toner can be refilled yourself (easily I might add) with bulk toner, but you loose with the drum replacement.
On top of that, the seller out of Brooklyn sold me a product that wasn't meant for sale in this country even though it worked. I was sold a "E" version (KX-FAD93E, NOT a KX-FAD93). Minor, maybe, but that wasn't what was advertised. If I knew the store was in Brooklyn (well known for this type of thing), I would of looked elsewhere.
