Only a 30-day warranty Dec 16, 2009
By Mark W. Ackley
"Tough Teacher"
My D51R went bad after a month. Optima says take it back to whom you purchased it from. I said Amazon, they said "oh no." Optima will not honor the 36 Month Warranty and Amazon said I'm stuck because I can't ship it back -it's hazardous material and it's beyond the 30 day return policy. "We are real sorry, but there's nothing we can do." So if you are going to buy a battery from Amazon - you will be stuck - without any remedy. Join the suckers club with me.

Works for the First-Gen Miata Sep 17, 2009

Installed this battery ("R" means reverse polarity) in my 1992 Miata this morning and it fit well. It's maybe an inch taller than the Westco battery or OEM Panasonic battery, so I had to extend the threaded rod that holds the top bracket, but otherwise it went in easily and the polarity was correct. The car fired right up, so I'm happy so far. I'll post again if I have any problems.

Optima Yellow Top IS HORRIBLE Jul 10, 2010
By al I also have a Honda (a Civic), and this battery died after 15 months ! I also bought it through Amazon, and the warranty's no good. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS BATTERY ! There's a lot better & cheaper, too.

Great....but not quite perfect Dec 20, 2008
By D-Blk The description of this battery stated that it was made to fit Honda Civics specifically, which is the application that I wanted it for. The only problem is that the top is contoured in such a way that the top mounting bracket does not fit properly and a shim must be made so that the clamp will clamp and not slide back and forth and side to side.
I chose this battery over the Odyssey which had better cca for pole orientation. Optima kept the terminals on top so that my stock connectors could be used, with the Odyssey they would have to be modified.

Perfect Miata upgrade Jul 04, 2009

Taller and heavier than the original battery in my 1996 Miata but fits fine. Need a longer J bolt but they are cheap and easy to get. Lots of cranking power. Only time will tell how long it lasts.
