The winch can be temporary or permanently mounted to either a ball-mount hitch or a flat surface. A parallel-shaft gear ensures efficient power for rolling wheeled trailers and vehicles up to 6,000 pounds, pulling things up to 5,000 pounds through water, or dragging items up to 2,000 pounds. The winch shuts down automatically if overloaded. And, a toggle remote control lets you control the action from a distance. This was for a 16m foot boat and serves the purpose well; Much better that paying 4 or 5 times that amount for the boat maker.

Haven't used it much yet. Definitely slow and noisy, but just what I want and for a good price

I returned this unit as it was so noisy you couldn't carry on a conversation within 15 feet of it. I don't know if the unit I had was defective or if that was the design but it wasn't acceptable either way. The unit is also very slow on the retrieve and doesn't have a power reverse. I ended up getting an ATV winch for only a few dollars more which is very quiet and twice as fast. The one really nice feature to this Master Lock winch is the portable mounting bracket that can just hook over a trailer hitch ball so it doesn't need to be installed permanently on any vehicle.

Works well, does everything I needed it to do. Added a pulley to reduce the load. I use it to raise 1600 to 1800lb large hay bales. Only thing additional I would have liked would have been a switch to lower the load rather than releasing the clutch. Otherwise, very happy with my purchase at an exceptional price.

I bought this winch to use for small jobs around the ranch as well as some off road use. I haven't needed it to pull our Hummer out of soft sand yet, but I'm sure it could do it. We've pulled logs onto a trailer and an ATV up ramps into our pickup.

It is slow, but that's not always a bad thing when loading. It certainly won't do the job of a $500 bumper mounted unit, but for the price, you can't beat it
