I give up. I bought this b/c the drill is discontinued and I needed to charge my batteries. It broke on the first charge. I've thrown away the drill and bought a new one.

This unit only lasted a week. It, like the one I had originally replaced, burned out after only two or three battery charges. I was extremely disappointed. I may end up buying a product from another manufacturer as without a reliable charger, battery-powered tools are useless. Black and Decker....what happened to your normal excellent quality when you made this item?

Excellent transaction. I've been doing what one person suggested, got a lamp timer and only let it charge for 2 hours at a time (they suggested 3, but I dont wanna chance it). I think I got it figured out on why the charger goes bad, it has a small circuit board in it, I think it over heats and shorts out...dunno for sure tho......thank amazon

It is a defective battery that is probably damaging the charger.
Take the battery some place (Like Batteries Plus)and make sure
it is not defective before attempting to charge.

the charger I bought was fine the old batterys were shorted out and burnt it up so I bought another one and a new battery and all is well
